Derek Miller is a managing director at Fitch Ratings. He currently heads the U.S. Structured Credit group responsible for collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and other structured credit ratings. The Structured Credit group assigns new issue CLO ratings, maintains the accuracy of existing ratings, performs CLO asset manager assessments, and publishes research on transaction characteristics and performance.
Prior to this position Derek had oversight of new issue ratings for U.S. CLOs and assessments of U.S. CLO asset managers. Previously, he also held various positions within the Structured Credit group of Fitch Ratings, with a focus on new issue and surveillance ratings for CLOs, credit-linked notes, and other cash funded CDOs. Derek joined Fitch Ratings in 2001. He received a B.S. in finance from Indiana University.
Maeve O’Brien is the Global head for CLO and Loan Servicing for BNY Mellon. Together with her team of 330 Industry professionals located in 6 locations in the US and EMEA, they service in excess of 300 clients administering 1,250 loan portfolios. A key part of Maeve’s role is to work with enterprise technology and operations to identify ways to enhance our client’s experience, and set the strategic vision for the future of our Global Loan Servicing.
Prior to her current role Maeve was responsible for the Latin American and Canadian Corporate Trust cross-border business. In her role, she oversees the retentive sales efforts as well as all client service activities supporting that book of business. For the period from 2009-2018, she oversaw this group when its activities encompassed all global cross-border Corporate Trust transactions by any non-US issuers.
Previously, Maeve ran a Corporate Trust business based in Dublin that supported CDO and CLO activities in EMEA during the height of the financial markets in 2006-2009. Maeve came to the firm as part of its acquisition of JP Morgan’s Corporate Trust Business in 2006. In her addition to her day to day business management role, she was heavily involved in integration and conversion activities post BNYM’s acquisition and further assisted in helping the institution secure its banking license in Ireland. At JP Morgan, she ran reporting functions supporting Asset Backed Commercial Paper programs and synthetic CDO transactions for a number of years. She joined JP Morgan from Schroder Capital Management in London where she had managed a performance management and reporting team.
Ms. Pathak is an Analyst in the Fixed Income group, specializing in asset-backed securities. Prior to joining TCW in 2007, Ms. Pathak was an Investment Specialist at Merrill Lynch in their Private Banking and Investments group where she helped manage $4 billion in High Net Worth assets and Co-Managed a proprietary equity derivatives portfolio. Ms. Pathak was previously an Assistant Vice President at the Bank of New York in their Strategic Consulting group. Ms. Pathak graduated cum laude from Barnard College/Columbia University with a BA in Economics and she also holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School. She is a CFA charterholder.
Andrew Ross is a Senior Director, Head of Investment Risk Management, and a member of the structured products investment team for Pacific Asset Management. Prior to joining Pacific Asset Management in 2018, Andy spent seven years at PAAMCO, where he served as a portfolio manager on the firm’s hedge fund and fixed income offerings, was a member of the firm’s Portfolio Construction Group, and covered investments in structured credit. Prior to this, he worked at IndyMac Bank (now part of CIT), with responsibilities in analyzing balance sheet credit risk, trading, and loan portfolio management. Andy has more than 14 years of investment and banking experience. He graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in Economics and received his MBA with honors from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a concentration in Analytic Finance. He is a CFA Charterholder and has also earned the FRM, CAIA, and CQF designations.
Buo Zhang is a senior member of the investment team within Symphony's structured product strategies. She is responsible for structuring the firm’s CLOs and trading CLO tranches. Prior to joining Symphony in 2019, Ms. Zhang held multiple positions within the Credit Investments Group at Credit Suisse Asset Management, where she began her career as a credit analyst in 2006. Most recently at her prior firm, she was a Director and was responsible for structuring and negotiating their CDO transactions and trading CLO tranches. Ms. Zhang holds a BS in Finance and Accounting from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.
Sayed joined Creditflux in 2010, covering the emergence of the global 2.0 CLO market from its inception. Since January 2017 he has served as the editor, responsible for its online news and print publications, which cover CLOs, structured credit and direct lending news and analysis.
